Idaherma Williams

(1933-2021)

Idaherma Williams received her BFA from Philadelphia College of Art in 1959 and her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963. She has also studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine arts. Idaherma has lectured and juried many shows over the last forty years. She is on the board of the American Color Print Society, SAGA (Society of American Graphic Artists) and Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She is also a member of Boston Printmakers, Audubon Artists, Los Angeles Printmaking Society, Philadelphia Watercolor Club, and the Printmaking Council of New Jersey. Williams work has been exhibited widely in both solo and group shows nationally and internationally and received numerous prizes and scholarships throughout her career.

"Wood is very direct. I seem to have a natural attraction to it. Ever since I was a child, I was drawn to working on wood and linoleum. When I look at a beautiful piece of wood, I try to see where it will take me, and I choose the wood carefully for each piece."
