1885-1976

Painter, printmaker, illustrator was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1885.  He studied with Robert Henri at the New York School of Art and in Provincetown with E. Ambrose Webster and George Elmer Browne.  He was a founder of the Provincetown Art Association and exhibited his prints and paintings often.  As a painter he is known as a semi-abstract artist.  He was an early artist to adopt to working with linoleum to make relief prints.  During the 1930’s he worked for the Works Progress Administration.  He moved to Rockport in 1940 and stopped making prints preferring to concentrate on paintings.
