Troy Kinney

1871-1938

Troy Kinney was an American etcher, illustrator and author, born in Kansas City, Missouri. He is best known for his depictions of dancers and classical nudes. Kinney studied at Yale University and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers and was elected an associate of the National Academy of Design in 1933. His wife, Margaret West, was also an artist and they collaborated on numerous book publications and magazine covers for Harper's Bazaar.

Kinney did work for both the Public Works of Art Project (PWAP) and Works Progress Administration (WPA) in Connecticut during the Great Depression.

His work can be found in an assortment of institutions, including the Chicago Institute; Cleveland Museum; Brooklyn Museum; New York Public Library; and the Library of Congress.
