William J. Schaldach

1896-1982

William Schaldach was an American artist and outdoorsman, born in Elkhart, Indiana. He had a passion for fishing and waterfowl hunting, which translated into his art. He produced numerous books containing his original works, including “Fish by Schaldach” (1937), “Coverts and Casts” (1943), “Upland Gunning” (1946) and "The Wind on Your Cheek" (1972). He also worked as an editor for the "Field & Stream" magazine (known as “Forest and Stream” at that point) for a time. 

Schaldach was a member of the Society of American Etchers, the Independent Society of Printmakers and the Salmagundi Club.
