Maximilien-Henri de Saint-Simon

1720-1799

Saint-Simon (Maximilien-Henri, marquis of). Born on November 15, 1720, died in Utrecht in 1799. He belonged to the branch of the Saint-Simon-Sandricourt family and was the oldest son of General Louis-François and Louise-Marie-Gabrielle de Gourgues. He served in the military during the French–Italian wars and was aide-de-camp to the Prince de Conti. He retired from the military in 1749 and spent the next it made during ten years travelling the world. He then devoted himself to study of history and science and was the author of several books. One of which was " Nyctologues de Platon" Utrecht, 1784. He was the uncle of the noted philosopher Claude-Henry de Rouvroy Saint-Simon.
