Ida York Abelman

Born in New York, NY in 1910, Ida Abelman studied at the Grand Central Art School, the National Academy School of Fine Arts, the City College of the City of New York and at Hunter College under lithographer, Joe Miller. She was a member of the American Artists Congress and she completed numerous projects for the Federal Arts Projects and the Works Progress Administration. After 1938, Abelman worked in color lithography for the WPA/FAP. In 1938 she exhibited at the Federation Art Gallery in New York in a 48 states competition.
