A varitey of maps from a number of famed cartographers are being offered. Cartographers include, but are not limited to Henry Octavian, Henry Moll, Abraham Ortelius and Willem J. Bleau. These handsome pieces depict the world as it was understood at the time. Now, of course, we know some of that knowledge was misled into the realm of fiction, as seen in Henry Overton's map of North America (pictured above), where California is portrayed as an island.

Other works include 19th-century American Town Views, which were incredibly fashionable in the pre-photographic world. These works offered a glimpse into distant places where people would not have otherwise been able to see without traveling. Some town views are so detailed that they appear more like town plans, where every major street, buildings and business is labeled. Others were made for a more aesthetic purpose.

To top off the list, John Jame's Audobon, Karl Bodmer and McKenney & Hall also have a presence in the auction with their depictions of Native Americans, birds and animals.
