"My latest images utilize intaglio printing over block printing to maximize the color graphic and define the detailed image represented." - WB.
Walter Buttrick is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston with additional training at the San Francisco Art Institute. He is an active member of the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT and has exhibited both in Germany and the U.S. His work is in private collections in England, Germany and in the United States. Walter currently works in his Silvermine studio and at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Returning to his artistic training as a printmaker, he has generated a volume of etchings, dry points, wood engravings and linoleum prints. Subject matter has been diverse, at times driven by experimentation with the reproduction methods, and has included local and European historical sites, flora and fauna, coral, and insect studies. In all mediums, Walter has endeavored to push the limits of each printing technique. He is pursuing experimentation in even larger formats, combining block printing and etching to create bold, color rich images.
