SU-LI HUNG AND RICHARD SLOAT EXHIBITION

Su-Li Hung & Richard Sloat:  45 Years Together in Art.

Su-Li Hung and Richard Sloat met at the Art Students League in 1971 and married the following year. Now, forty-five years later this exhibition celebrates their creative partnership. Although their printmaking emerges from two very distinct styles, the works portrayed show an extensive assessment of their art, revealing glimpses of related motifs, colors, and textures, as well as shared moments of inspiration.

On living and working with Su-Li Hung, Sloat states:  “Though our bios are diverse, there are numerous points of commonality, we’ve been in dozens of group and two-person shows, and we are in many of the same institutional collections. There have been many times over the years when one of us has gone off in an artistic direction not appreciated or understood by the other. This can be trying at times but also can be lived with, for underneath it all lies a mutual respect.  Living with someone who knows and loves art can show you the world through their artistic eyes.  This everyday experience is one of the greatest treasures.”

Exhibition May 2 to 31, 2017.
Meet the artists Saturday May 13, 2017, 1 to 4 p.m.
