It was also used to reduce fever, deobstruent, cathartic and tonic. <br><br> This engraving is from Plenck's scarce "Icones Plantarum Medicinalium Secundum Systema Linnaei Digestarum." This work was devoted to the medicinal properties of native European plants. Many had never been illustrated before. The engravings have a freshness and simplicity that charms collectors today.
