From "The Birds of Australia," by Gregory Macalister Mathews. Published in twelve volumes between 1910 and 1927. A monumental undertaking, this work was conceived by Mathews because there had been no major bird book on Australia's exotic species since Gould's. It became the last great illustrated ornithological book with hand-colored lithographs. Among its artists were John Gerrard Keulemans, Henrik Gronvold, Roland Green and H. Goodchild.Has a light blue background and a tree limb to which the branches are attached. 20th Century Subjects , Natural History - Birds , Songbirds
