  • DESCRIPTION: An unusual polar projection of the world. This map notes the conjectural mountain ranges in the world, both on land and under the seas. Shows the Sea of the West, an incomplete Australian coast and other interesting projections. Part of one of the great scientific/cartographic debates between the royal cartographers of England and France. This map appeared in the March 1757 issue of "The Gentleman's Magazine." Engraved by B.
