  • DESCRIPTION: A detailed map from "Atlas of Long Island, New York. From recent and actual surveys and records." It depicts a section of East New York from Jamaica Plane Road to Liberty Avenue and Shepard Avenue to Eldert Lane. After the Williamsburgh Bridge opened in 1903 and a subway line to New Lots was completed it grew rapidly and became home to many Eastern European immigrants. The conduit and building for Nassau Water Works Engine can be seen to the left of map center.
