  • DESCRIPTION: A charming old New York street scene that is no more.<br><br> Vernon Howe Bailey was an American artist, born in Camden, New Jersey. He studied at the Pennsylvania Museum School and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and worked as an illustrator for a number of American newspapers in his early career, including Philadelphia Times and the Boston Herald. Bailey moved to Europe in 1907, where he continued his artistic career. When the U.S. joined World War I in 1917, he was commissioned by the U.S. government to produce his "war works" series, in which he illustrated the war effort at naval yards, ammunition factories and other such entities. Many of these illustrations are now housed in the Smithsonian Institution. <br><br> Bailey is well regarded for his architectural and naval works

  • CONDITION: Fair to good condition. This sheet of paper has a mild patina of smudges, paper folds and creases. The crisp impression hold up very well to all of the condition issues.
