Mon cher Bertrand, donnes moi cent ecus, je te fais acquitter d’emblée. – J’ai pas d’argent. – He bien donnes moi 100F - pas le sou - tu n'as pas dix francs?.... pas un liard! alors donnes moi tes bottes je plaiderai la circonstance attenuante. <br><br> Translation: My dear Bertrand, give me a hundred crowns and I'll get you acquitted right away. - I've no money. - All right, give me a hundred francs. - I haven't got a penny. - You don't even have ten francs? - Not a farthing. - Then give me your boots, and I'll plead extenuating circumstances. Caricaturana is a series of 100 lithographs, numbered 1-100. They first appeared in Le Charivari between 1836 and 1838. They also were sold in a bound album format with the title "Les Robert Macaires." Each image was printed on heavy wove paper and was offered uncolored for 45 francs and hand colored for 55 francs.
