They were born and raised in Philadelphia; both parents musicians, mother a pianist and father a drummer. Fayard was usually in the front row of the Standard Theater when his parents performed. So by a young age he had been exposed to most of the famous black Vaudeville acts of the time. The brothers became famous during the Harlem Renaissance on the jazz circuit for their highly acrobatic and energetic dance style. The brothers continued to perform well into the 1990’s.
