Signed and dated "4-6-00" (European dating). The Nicholas Brothers, Fayard (1914–2006) and Harold (1921–2000) were one of the most famous tap dancers of the twentieth century. They were born and raised in Philadelphia; both parents musicians, mother a pianist and father a drummer. Fayard was usually in the front row of the Standard Theater when his parents performed. So by a young age he had been exposed to most of the famous black Vaudeville acts of the time. The brothers became famous during the Harlem Renaissance on the jazz circuit for their highly acrobatic and energetic dance style. The brothers continued to perform well into the 1990’s. 20th Century Subjects , Drawings And Watercolors , Nudes & Figures
