• DESCRIPTION: The block was originally created for Eichenberg’s illustrated version of "Fathers And Sons" published by Heritage Press in 1941. The book was such a hit that a decade later, in 1951, it was published again, this time by the Limited Edition Club. The illustrations in the LEC's version were printed directly from Eichenber's wood blocks, unlike Heritage Press's rendition, which utilized electroplating (a reproductive method) to keep production costs down. The wood engravings bound in the book were never signed. Instead, Eichenberg signed the colophon page in each book. Wood engravings such as this one were either part of a separate edition, for individual sale, or were proofs. <br><br>
