DESCRIPTION: Ch.Ph.invt. H.D.lith; Chez Aubert, gal.vero dodat; Imp.d'Aubert et de Junca. Caricaturana is a series of 100 lithographs, numbered 1-100. They first appeared in Le Charivari between 1836 and 1838. They also were sold in a bound album format with the title "Les Robert Macaires." Each image was printed on heavy wove paper and was offered uncolored for 45 francs and hand colored for 55 francs. <br><br> Text reads, "Bertrand, j’adore l’industrie…… Si tu veux, nous creons une banque, mais la, une vraie banque!…. Capital cent millions de millions, cent milliards de milliards d’actions. Nous enfoncons la banque de France, nous enfoncons les banquiers, les banquistes, nous enfoncons tout le monde! – Oui mais les gendarmes? – Que tu es bete Bertrand, est-ce qu’on arrete un millionnaire?" <br><br> Translation - "Bertrand, I adore industry.... If you like we'll set up a bank!... but a real bank. With a capital of hundreds of millions, with thousands of millions of shares. We'll smash the Bank of France, we'll sink the bankers, the charlatans... we'll beat everyone! -- Yes, but what about the police? -- Don't be silly, Bertrand. Whoever heard of a millionaire being arrested?"
