DESCRIPTION: A fine example of Munster's "modern" map of the world. This example is from the second woodblock engraved by David Kandel'. His initials are in the lower left. The map is richly embellished with sea monsters and twelve windheads. North America is shown with the large cleft nearly separating the east coast from the continent, often referred to as the Sea of Verrazano. Appeared in "Cosmographica." German text on verso.
