A fine early map of St. John's, Newfoundland. The noted body of water, while labeled "Le Mouillage," is known as St. John's Harbour today. Several forts and "habitations" are marked along the shore. This map appeared in Bellin's "Le Petit Atlas Maritime, ou Recueil de Cartes et de Plans des Quatre Parties du Monde". This atlas or pilot is a wonderful French produced small sized work that depicted a great many parts of the known world. Maps
