  • DESCRIPTION: A fine early map of eastern Nova Scotia, focused on Cape Breton Island. A portion of Prince Edward Island can be seen at the upper left. Some of the noted areas include Labrador (modern day Bras d'or Lake), Isle Madame, Gabaru Bay, Scatarie Island and St. Pierre (St. Perer's). This map appeared in Bellin's "Le Petit Atlas Maritime, ou Recueil de Cartes et de Plans des Quatre Parties du Monde". This atlas or pilot is a wonderful French produced small sized work that depicted a great many parts of the known world.
