A well engraved map that appeared in Prevost "Historie Generale des Voyages...". This work covered all the known areas of the world. This map shows city of Lavo, the "ordinary abode" of the kings of Siam on the Menam (Chao Phraya) River. Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772) was one of the most important and proficient French cartographers of the eighteenth century. He was appointed the first Ingenieur Hydrographe de la Marine, and also the Official Hydrographer to the French King. Maps
