Paris, 1833. 2 volumes containing 239 lithographs and 8 maps chronicling the first voyage of the Astrolabe (1826-1829) to the south Pacific Ocean, which was undertaken by the French government for scientific and political purposes. Led by Jules Dumont d'Urville, its intention was to gain additional information about the principal groups of islands in the Pacific and to augment the mass of botanical, zoological and mineral data.
