An 18th century pictorial map depicting the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land and their wanderings in the desert. Mount Sinai is prominent at the center of the map. At top left are the Jordan River and the Mare Mortuum . In the lower right is a scene of the pursuing Egyptians being swallowed in the Red Sea. Numerous place names and biblical references are given. This map is a close copy to Mortier's map first published in 1705. This version appeared in Jacques Desray.'s “Nouvel Atlas de la Bible”. Maps
