This detailed map shows the Canadian Pacific Railroad route, than being built. It also shows and identifies rivers, mountains, passes, forts, telegraph lines, districts, territorial boundaries and notes on terrain. The coast to coast Canadian Pacific Railroad was begun in 1871-72.. Work was slow and was beset with delays and cost overruns. In 1880 the railroad was incorporated with George Stephen as its first president. The route was finally completed in 1885 with Vancouver as it's western terminus.
