Two volumes in contemporary red leather with gold stamping title and label on spine. Quarto size containing one map and 199 steel engravings plus two title pages.

American Scenery was published by George Virtue in London in 30 monthly installments from 1837 to 1839. Bound editions of the work were published from 1840 onward.

Henry. Bartlett (1809-1854). British born Bartlett first visited the United States in 1835. He travelled extensively throughout the North East, recording the scenery in wash drawings. These volumes were a huge success and they contain some of the most charming views of early American scenery ever published.
