  • DESCRIPTION: The title continues "Illustrating the position contortion branching &c of granite veins on the island of New York by Prof. L. D. Gale". Lithographed by Endicott A study of the geological strata uncovered on Manhattan Island during the construction of the Harlem Railroad line. The section of the railroad line, extending from 42nd Street to Harlem, opened between 1834 and 1837.
