Rare 1907 edition of a street map of Baltimore, including the inset ‘Map of Baltimore and Environs’. This map includes many details and landmarks in the city, such as streets, major buildings, parks, rivers and harbors, lighthouses, train stations, railroad routes leading to the city, and important public institutions such as hospitals and government buildings.

The map was published in the Rand-McNally Indexed Atlas of the World, a collection of large-scale colored maps of regions across the globe. Rand-McNally is an American publishing company known for its atlases, globes, and education books. In the firm’s period of growth during the late 19th century, it became famous for its adoption of the cost-efficient wax engraving process for map production, enabling it to produce and sell more maps than its competitors in the market.
