DESCRIPTION: This map of Greece was published by the American mapmaker Thomas G. Bradford in his work ‘A Comprehensive Atlas, Geographical, Historical & Commercial’. It depicts Greece and its surroundings at a time when the country had recently gained independence from the Ottoman Empire after a rebellion in 1821. Includes cities, regional names, and topography with relief shown by hachure. Islands are labeled and detail is provided in the island of Crete. Modern-day Turkey is also visible to the east.
