This handsomely colored map depicts the western coastline of Spain and Portugal, extending from Galicia in northern Spain, through Portugal and south to Andalusia. Insets detail the ports of Lisbon and Setubal, and the area around Cadis, including soundings, settlements, and details on the coastal terrain. Includes soundings and coastal detail such as mountains, settlements, and inlets.

This map is from the French marine atlas ‘Le Neptune Francois’. The atlas was originally published by Alexis-Hubert Jaillot in 1693 in Paris, but was widely copied and pirated in later years, most notably by the Mortier brothers in Amsterdam. The lavishly produced atlas was one of the most important of its time, and was known for its beautiful charts of the European coasts.
