  • DESCRIPTION: S, Harris Sc. Samuel Adams (1722-1803) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States; he was also a noted politician and statesman. He was born in Boston and studied at Harvard. He was part of a Boston Town Meeting that opposed the British taxing the Colonies without their consent. He attended the Continental Congress in Philadelphia and helped coordinate the Colonial response leading up to the Declaration of Independence. He helped draft the Articles of Confederation and the Massachusetts Constitution. Engraved by Samuel Harris after the painting by John Johnston.
