Imp Delatre. Signed in the lower right within the plate and in pencil below. The scene depicts two eight man boats racing head to head on the Thames. The view is taken from the Surrey side of the river. In the background is the “Crab Tree,” malt house (pub and now the Crabtree inn) and the Dorset Cottage, Fulham, both of which are located between the Hammersmith & Putney bridges. A fine painted-etcher print. Likely printed by Auguste Delatre. Note in the catalog raisonne says that there is one trial proof touched with pencil, "Some early prints have 'imp Delatre, London 1876" but this has now been erased from the plate. This example is perhaps a very early example as is simply states "Imp Delatre". 18th-19th Century Subjects , Sports & Games , Rowing
