  • DESCRIPTION: Engraved by George E. Perine, New York. A well detailed bird's eye view of the "new" Central Park, designed by landscape architect and writer Frederick Law Olmsted and the English architect Calvert Vaux. Visible are The Pond, The Mall, and the original Croton Reservoirs. The designers' intention for the park was of a space steeped in nature, as well as a place of inclusion, where "all are welcome regardless of rank or wealth".
