This fascinating map was produced during the early years of motorized tourism.<br><br> The key identifies types of roads, including earth, hard surface, graded etc. Also noted are “tourist camps” where folks could stop and camp for the night. Long range travel at the time was truly an adventure. The Key also notes a star symbol which identifies authorized stores & shops that sell Mid-West Map company maps. The Owyhee Hotel in Boise is advertised on the map offering rooms for $1.50 and up..<br><br> The dating is based on the date when the Federal government mandated that all established highway systems should use the number system.
