• DESCRIPTION: "Compliments of 'Domestic' Sewing Machine Co." An advertisement for the sewing company using an important American Revolutionary image by F. O. C. Darley. <br><br> Originally founded in 1861 under the name William A. Mack & Co., it morphed into the Domestic Sewing Machine Co. in 1869. Their 'Domestic' brand sewing machine was popular during its time, enough so that in 1924 it was purchased and made a subsidiary of the White Sewing Machine Company. They continued to manufacture 'Domestic' sewing machines until the 1930s when the Great Depression took its toll.
