  • DESCRIPTION: Artist notes in the outer lower margin read, "The Museum of the City of New York was incorporated in 1923 to show by means of exhibits the growth and development of New York City life from earliest times to the present. It first occupied the Grace Mansion. Its present building in the Georgian style was built by public subscription and opened January 11, 1932 the birthday of Alexander Hamilton."<br><br>
