The Battle of Trafalgar took place on the October 12, 1805 near Cape Trafalgar, Spain. Vice Admiral Nelson was mortally wounded leading the British to victory over the French and Spanish armadas. Their overwhelming victory lead Britain to becoming a naval super power for nearly a century.

In this engraving a wounded Lord Nelson is seen falling into Captain Hardy's arms. He continue to direct his men, despite the gravity of his injury.
