(For Gratuitous Circulation with Harper's Weekly, Number 858, June 7th, 1873)". Churches, public buildings, newspaper offices, hotels, etc. are numbered and identified in the base margin key. Also identified are ferry lines, the Harlem Railroad, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and the "Proposed Bridge" connecting Brooklyn to lower Manhattan. Central Park was nearing completion,. A fascinating slice of history - Boss Tweed and his Tammany machine had just collapsed, and the city was embarking on its "Gilded Age".
