A scarce separately published map of the Persian Empire, based upon the writings of the Dutch Dutch Orientalist scholar, cartographer and philologist Adrian Reland.

The map is the result of Reland's compilation of many of the most important contemporary and early works on the Persian Empire.

The map provides one of the most detailed maps of the Persian Empire, at the beginning of the 18th Century.

In the lower right is a large dedication cartouche to Nicolaes Witsen (1641 –1717). Witsen was a Dutch statesman, mayor of Amsterdam thirteen times, and administrator of the Dutch East India Company (VOC).
