A numbered key below the image identifies 20 landmarks including the Castle of Ephesus, the Ruins of Diana's Temple, and the Egean Sea.<br><br> Antoine Augustin Calmet, O.S.B. (1672-1757) was a French Benedictine monk and theologian. In 1720 he authored “Dictionnaire historique, critique, chronologique, geographique et litteral de la Bible” (Paris, two vols. folio). This work was translated into English and published in London.
