DESCRIPTION: A beautiful and rare paneled map of Africa that is based on Hondius' map. The first derivative of the map was issued separately by Hondius in 1618. This example is based upon the second state of Janssonius' map of 1623.<br><br> Richly embellished by galleons under sail, birds and sea-monsters, ten vignettes with costumed figures representing various areas on the continent and six views (Alcair, Alexandria, Alger, Tunis, Tanger and Ceuta.
