DESCRIPTION: Two folio sized prints after the great Connecticut painter, George H. Durrie. Durrie is best remembered for his paintings of winter scenes, especially those that the lithographic firm of Currier & Ives used. As a pair. Napoleon Sarony got his start in lithography in the employment of Nathaniel Currier. Upon embarking in his own business in 1840, he proved to be a great success, playing a major role in lithography throughout the rest of the 19th century.
