He traveled via New Orleans, up the Mississippi River to Nauvoo, Illinois and then overland on the Mormon Trail. His book, "Route from Liverpool to Great Salt Lake Valley" was published in London, commissioned by the Church of Latter Day Saints of England and is considered an important source of information on the Mormon migration of 1840-55. This Wyoming landmark is located near the junction of the Sweetwater and North Platte Rivers. From here the migrants would travel through the South Pass to Fort Bridger, then on to the shores of the Great Salt Lake. A beautiful engraving.
