  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Lithographed by T. Picken. Subtitle reads: "Constructed at the Eastern Steam Navigation Company's Works Millwall from the Designs and Under the Direction of Isambard Kingdom Brunel Esquire, F.R.S. D.C.L. &c. &c.to whom this plate is most repectfully dedicated by his obedient Servant, Samuel Walters". Two columns, outlining the ship's dimensions flank the main title. This is a port view of the huge ship under steam, sailing off of Margate, England. Unfortunately, the "Great Eastern" was a great failure, losing both money and lives.
