  • DESCRIPTION: When a few prospecters on their way to California stopped off in the mountains of Nevada, they found the mining of gold there to be hindered by a heavy blue sand clogging their sluice boxes. Upon inspection, it turned out this "sand" was silver and a new mother lode was discovered.
