This beautiful map of the southeast first appeared in the 1606 edition of Gerard Mercator's atlas by Jodocus Hondius. The cartographic information on this map is largely derived from John White's map of Virginia and Jacques le Moyne's map of Florida. This map is adorned with figures of Indians, ships and a wild turkey. Two images of Indian villages, one in Virginia and one in Florida, are engraved on either side of the title cartouche. A 1633 French text edition. Maps
