  • DESCRIPTION: Engraved by J. R. Smith. General Lincoln, once one of Washington's war commanders, successfully routed an army of dissenters in "Shay's Rebellion" of 1786. Outraged working class farmers, laborers and veterans tried to start a revolution against the bourgeoisis of Boston. Wealthy merchants quickly paid for the assembling of Lincoln's army.
