  • DESCRIPTION: In the mid-sixteenth through the early seventeenth century, there was great interest in this region with reference to a north-west or a north-east passage from Europe to the Pacific. The area depicted in this map extends to Siberia, Greenland, Iceland, and Hudson's Bay. Embellishments include two northern hunters, two foxes and a Bear. Second state of five. Dutch text on reverse.
