  • DESCRIPTION: With a central compass rose, this fine map of the Pacific Ocean shows California as an island, Japan, and partial details of Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, and miscellaneous Islands. The cartouche is made up of a portrait of Magellan, and cherubs flying over the heads of Neptune and his wife Salacia who are standing on a sea shell chariot drawn by hippocampus.
